Ramirez & Co., the oldest and largest Hispanic owned investment bank in the United States, adds valuable underwriting and distribution capabilities to new issue debt and equity transactions. The firm is unique among minority owned broker dealers in that it combines retail and institutional distribution. The firm’s investment bankers have participated in new issue capital raising transactions for over one hundred different clients over the past five years.
During the past five years the firm has participated in over 335 corporate and agency debt transactions of over $265 billion; and 56 equity and convertible transactions totaling over $63 billion. Recent highlights include debt book-running assignments for a $750 million GECC transaction in 2006 and an $800 million Wal-Mart deal in 2005. In the equity market, Ramirez & Co. is one of only two minority owned firms to underwrite the largest IPOs respectively of the past four years, including the IPOs for Blackstone Group in 2007 and MasterCard Inc. in 2006. According to data provided by Thomson Financial, in 2006 Ramirez & Co. was the #1 minority owned underwriter of equity IPOs and the #2 minority owned underwriter of debt transactions.
Lawrence F. Goldman, CFA heads the Group. Mr. Goldman is responsible for overseeing all equity and debt capital markets activities of the firm as they relate to corporate and taxable customers. He has over 25 years of Wall Street experience. Prior to joining Ramirez & Co., Lawrence Goldman worked for 16 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He graduated Cum Laude in Economics from Yale University and received an MBA with distinction from NYU. He also holds the CFA designation.
Ray O'Connor for 18 years has worked in capital markets, corporate and project finance, credit analysis and structured derivatives and trading. Mr. O’Connor worked at J.P. Morgan Chase and its predecessor banks as a structured finance and derivatives professional responsible for the Global Energy business, specifically for delivering structured derivative and finance solutions to utilities and merchant energy industries. Most recently, Mr. O’Connor was at Blaylock & Partners where he originated and executed debt, equity and hybrid capital market transactions and was also responsible for a number of Structured Finance and advisory transactions with an emphasis on the Renewable Energy space.
Santiago J. Abuaf is a Vice President at the Investment Banking & Capital Markets Group. Mr. Abuaf plays a key role in the execution of most major capital markets, infrastructure, and corporate finance assignments. He also focuses on all aspects of the underwriting process, from marketing and valuations to relationships with issuers and other syndicate desks. Santiago Abuaf holds an MBA from the University of Rochester with concentrations in Finance and Competitive Strategy, and received the equivalent of a Bachelors and Masters degree in Accounting from Universidad de Buenos Aires. |

In August 2005, Ramirez & Co., Inc. Acted as Joint Lead Book-Running Manager in the Issuance of 5-Year Notes by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The firm was named Minority Capital Markets Firm of the year by Wal-Mart in 2006.
